Meet Kris Bartelt

I love sharing God’s gifts of music with people of all ages and helping them praise God and get connected with one another here at Immanuel!

After graduating from Concordia in River Forest, I was called to Immanuel and taught second grade for nine years. Then I moved to working with church and school music and teaching general music classes. Currently, in addition to creating and exploring music during class time with my students, I plan music for services, play organ for traditional services and sing at some contemporary services, accompany the adult choir, instrumentalists and vocalists, direct the adult handbell ringers, and work with children’s choirs and musicals.

Besides making music and being part of the Immanuel community, I enjoy spending time with my husband and family (especially my grandson, granddaughter and their parents who live a few hours away), walking my golden retriever Zeke, and spending time working in my yard.

My favorite hymn is “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”, which is based on Lamentations 3:22-24, because the words remind me to focus on God’s faithfulness and the multitude of ways He has blessed me throughout my life. I am blessed to be a part of the ministry team here at Immanuel church and school, and I trust that our God will continue to provide all that is needed as we work to shine His light and share His love and the message of salvation in this community.
