Kindergarten is an important milestone in a child’s early development. At ILS, we provide children with opportunities to build a strong foundation in academics while developing essential social, emotional, and problem-solving skills. Rooted in faith, our curriculum fosters a nurturing environment where every student is encouraged to grow, explore, and thrive.

First grade is an exciting year as students build the foundational skills they need for future academic success. Throughout the year, students grow in confidence as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and problem-solvers. They continue to strengthen their phonics skills and reading fluency while developing comprehension and a love of learning. Through hands-on experiences, students deepen their understanding of number sense, explore new concepts, and become confident learners.

Second grade students build on the foundational skills they developed in first grade while continuing to grow as independent learners. They strengthen their reading comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary through a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts. In mathematics, students build fluency with addition and subtraction while learning to tell time, work with money, solve real-world problems, and explore basic geometry. Throughout the year, students also develop critical thinking, collaboration, responsibility, and confidence in a supportive classroom environment.

Third grade is a year of growth as students build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and take on new challenges. They strengthen their reading comprehension, write for a variety of purposes, and build fluency in multiplication, division, and other math concepts. Students also explore science, social studies, and technology through hands-on learning, while developing critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills that prepare them for future success.

Fourth grade is a year of growing independence, confidence, and critical thinking. Students strengthen their reading comprehension, writing, and communication skills while exploring more complex math concepts such as multi-digit multiplication, division, fractions, and problem-solving. They investigate science through hands-on inquiry, learn about history and geography in social studies, and develop creativity, collaboration, and responsibility as they prepare for the challenges of upper elementary school.

Fifth grade marks an exciting milestone as students move to the upper floor and begin their transition to middle school. With greater independence and responsibility, students strengthen their academic skills while learning to manage increased expectations. They deepen their understanding of core subjects through engaging, collaborative learning, develop strong organizational and study habits, and build confidence as leaders and role models for younger students. Beyond the classroom, students have opportunities to discover and develop their God-given gifts through athletics, fine arts, technology, service, and other extracurricular activities.
