Immanuel Lutheran School is committed to supporting students with special needs by providing appropriate accommodations and individualized plans. Within Immanuel, our resource teacher works with the classroom teachers to offer adapted instruction in reading, math, writing, and vocabulary. Our support includes small group learning and individualized assistance, tailored to meet the unique needs of each student whenever possible.

We collaborate closely with public service providers within our local district, District 300, to access additional support when available. Through this partnership, eligible students may receive services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, social work, and academic support in accordance with their Individualized Service Plan (ISP).

Meet Mrs. Mathews

Academic Resources Teacher

I have a Bachelor's from Carthage College in Elementary and Special Education. I have a Master's degree in Reading from Concordia University Chicago. I began teaching in 2010.

In 2017 I began teaching at Immanuel through Lutheran Special Education Ministry. I reside in Woodstock with my husband Tom and my dog, Leia. In my spare time, I like reading or playing board and card games with my friends and family.
