Meet Mrs. Becker

I grew up in Chicago and have always loved reading, singing, and learning. I graduated from Concordia University River Forest (now Chicago) with a degree in Elementary Education and Director of Parish Music in 1996. I taught one year in Itasca and two years in Chicago before I met my amazing husband Kevin. I began teaching at Immanuel in 1999 and fell in love with the families here. I received my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Illinois University in 2004.

Kevin and I have two children, Jacob and Sophia. As a family we love to attend sporting events. I love teaching at Immanuel where I have the ability to be an athletic coach and music director at the middle school level, and still keep contact with the students as I lead the high school bells and participate in youth events.

I love teaching 8th graders because I have the unique ability to prepare them for their next journey into high school. I work closely with the high schools to make sure our students have a smooth transition, and the parents to make sure they are prepared for what is to come. I want my students to make this their best year at Immanuel, remind them that they are loved not only by their teachers but also by God who gave up everything just for them, and to help them see that they have a home here!
